Pre-Arrival reminder for Session 1 Families

Hello to Chewonki families, campers, and trippers!!

We are writing to you from Chewonki Neck, where our cabin and trip leaders, directors, and coordinator staff, are deep in the midst of pre-camp preparations for the arrival of Session 1 participants. And now, with our entire summer staff on campus, the excitement for the 2021 camp season is palpable on every trail, at every meal, and during each activity!

At this writing, we are finishing up “week one” of all-staff training, work that is supported by an updated curriculum aligned with our mission and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. As we build a team of strong leaders and mentors, we are taking a holistic approach to risk management and learning best practices, all to ensure that our camp community is a welcoming place that meets the needs of all.

As always, health and safety are top priorities and we have implemented a variety of Covid-19 protocols for the well-being of all participants. As we approach day 4 of our “pre-arrival best practices countdown”, we encourage you to review the pre-arrival checklist on our website for more information.

Returning to an in-person camp promises to be a powerful experience for all. We look forward to fostering personal connections with one another and with nature, experiencing positive growth, making friends, hearing songs and laughter, and creating the kind of community that nurtures the best in each of us.

Here’s to the best summer ever!
