Dear Friend and family,

We are incredibly happy to welcome everyone back to Chewonki Neck this summer and grateful to you for the privilege of sharing the power of camp with your child.

Please know that we have been thinking deeply about the social and emotional needs of the campers as they step back into group activities after a year of social distancing, and we planned for a full afternoon and evening of team-building activities to help them feel at home with their group and well-connected with their cabin leaders or trip leaders. By the time you get this email, we will have finished a hearty family-style dinner in our new outdoor dining areas, and spent a lovely summer evening around the campfire circles before heading back to our cabins and tents for our first night together.

Health and Wellness:
Our health and wellness team, whom many of you met in person today at drop-off, are a skilled and professional team that has guided us through the past year of on-campus programming without incident, and we fully expect the same for this camp season. Thank you for your patience with the modified arrival schedule, we felt it went quite smoothly.

Camp Photos:
I also want to provide you with information to join our new camp photo service: Waldo Photos. Our camp photographers will be uploading photos every few days, and Leadership Expedition trips will send back photos from the field with each re-supply date. You will notice that Waldo offers an opt-in and opt-out face-matching service that will help you find your child in all the different albums. You can sign up with this link, or download an app for a smartphone. There is more info about Waldo Photos at the bottom of this post. It is our first year with this new service, so please let us know what you think.

Next Update:
In a few days after everyone has settled in, you can expect to get a quick email from your child’s cabin leaders or trip leaders with any comments or updates to share.

If you have any questions or concerns, please connect with the camp office by email or phone. We look forward to the laughter and learning and making of good memories that await us. It’s going to be a great summer.

Sincerely,

Nancy Kennedy, Charlie Fear, Jen Adams, Si Norton, Leslie Hunter
& the entire Chewonki team

Watermelon Radishes

Here at Chewonki we just finished our last bag of watermelon radishes which were harvested last fall. They kept beautifully in our root cellar. What a joy to
