Autumn Update!

Hello Camp Chewonki Families, It’s hard to believe that September is almost over and autumn is officially upon us. The autumn equinox brought the first day of real fall weather to Chewonki Neck. Fall programs are in full swing and although it’s definitely quieter than camp season, the Neck is a buzz with Maine Coast Semester students and Outdoor Classroom participants. Since summer ended, we’ve had some changes to the year-round camp team. Leslie Hunter moved on from Chewonki after ten years of working at Camp Chewonki. From Owlympics to Starch Madness, We Make Our Own Fun!

Hello camp families, The start of Second Session has flown by- somehow we have ten full days of camp left this summer!  This past Sunday our Puffin campers departed after an exciting and action packed ten days. While many of our Westside Heron cabins have been on trip, the Owls have been enjoying regular activities and an “Owlympics” special event day. On Eastside, the Tamarack cabin is running solo today and has a special T-Rack themed day before Whippoorwill returns this afternoon.  Carnival! Session 2 Update

We’re almost a week into Second Session and it has been jam-packed! We’ve had four regular activity days and a Chewonki Day, in which we join together as a community to celebrate Chewonki’s values. Today is Excursion Day- the Owls are off visiting the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, the Eastside Heron & Ospreys are at Popham Beach State Park, and the Westside Heron & Ospreys are exploring Wolfe’s Neck Farm. On Sunday, our Puffin campers head home after their whirlwind ten-day camp experience!
