Loons

Loons - Summer Adventure Trips for Teens Ages 14-16

Loons, our 14-to-16 year old campers, head out from our campus in Wiscasset to explore the beautiful backcountry regions of Maine canoeing, backpacking, saltwater kayaking or whitewater kayaking adventures that will last a lifetime. These adventure travel trips for teens are designed as introductory 3-week program for campers at all levels of experience (including first-time campers!).

Campers spend their time learning the skills and knowledge required to travel in remote locations such as setting up camp, starting a fire, backcountry cooking, map and compass, how to live and work together, and many more skills. Our highly trained and certified staff hand off leader-of-the-day responsibilities to campers as they learn the necessary skills and knowledge. These responsibilities could be navigating to a new location, taking charge of the setup crew, or determining what’s for dinner.

Looking for a More Advanced Teen Adventure Trip?

For older campers (ages 15-17) and those with more backcountry experience, we have trip options that include boatbuilding, canoeing and backpacking into the Canadian north and beyond:
