Kirsty first fell in love with the magic of summer camp in 2015 when she came to the USA for the first time as an international staffer as part of the Camp America program. Her four summers at a primitive Girl Scout camp in southern Ohio in between the semesters at law school ignited a passion for connecting young people with the outdoors and each other, so when she moved to the US permanently from Scotland in 2019 after graduating top of her class, she knew she needed to follow this passion.

Kirsty has spent time at a number of camps, from urban farm day camps to respite camps for individuals with disabilities. Most recently, she has spent the last three years serving as a Program Coordinator for a national nonprofit that creates inclusive summer camp experiences for individuals with and without Down syndrome. What drew Kirsty to Chewonki was how aligned her personal values are with the mission and values of Camp Chewonki, and she is excited to continue to build communities where everyone can show up as their authentic selves.

Kirsty looks forward to exploring a new part of the USA. In her spare time, Kirsty enjoys hiking, backpacking, traveling and finding new, unique places to eat. She is so excited to be joining the Chewonki team and can’t wait to meet the community!
