Marisa Flores

Assistant Director of Girls Camp

Marisa is a seeker and cultivator of intentional community and whimsy. Originally from Lubbock, TX, she first ventured to Maine in 2017 as the Program Director for Camp Cobbossee for Boys. She fell in love with the beauty of the area, and has made every effort to return to Maine each year. Marisa is delighted to be joining the Chewonki team this summer!

Now entering her 14th summer in camping, Marisa has supported the operations, logistics, and community building efforts across a mix of camps and schools in Texas, Tennessee, California and Maine. She has volunteered with the Summer Camp Society to lead anti-racist accountability groups for camp leaders, developed and facilitated diversity, equity and inclusion trainings for youth and adults, and was a speaker at the Women in Camp Summit 2020.

Marisa earned a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from Texas Tech University, an Elementary Education Post Bacc from Lubbock Christian University, and an M.Ed. in Community Development & Action from Vanderbilt University.

Marisa lives in Nashville, TN where she directs the auxiliary programs at a local independent school. When she’s not working, she loves to play volleyball, explore local bookstores, and attend as much live music as possible.
