Originally from the Chicagoland area, Katie’s experience with summer camp began when she attended both day and overnight YMCA camps in the Chicago area as a child. She began working at camp during the summer of 2015 while pursuing her B.S. in Middle Childhood Education at Miami University in Ohio during the school year.  Since then, she has spent most of her summers working at overnight camps in Illinois, California, and Texas in all kinds of different roles, from Camp Counselor to Administrative Specialist to Operations Director, and she is so thrilled to be continuing her camping journey in Maine as Camp Chewonki’s Associate Girl’s Director!

Katie’s favorite thing about summer camp is how campers can learn so many valuable skills in such a short time, especially independence, resilience, and risk taking. She also loves the close-knit community that camp provides both campers and staff. Her favorite camp activities are archery, fine arts, and special events. When not at camp, she is usually planning a trip to visit a new US National Park, cheering for her favorite ice hockey team, or out for a swim.
