Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed a healthy and happy holiday season. While we enjoy the winter months and a lot of snow, the team is already full steam ahead preparing for Summer 2024 at Camp Chewonki.

Before the holidays, we opened staff applications for the summer and have been so excited to already have a number of staff from Summer 2023 apply to join Chewonki again this summer. Keep an eye on our Instagram for announcements about which staff you can expect to see back at Chewonki this summer.

2024 Forms and Family Handbook are Here!
Click HERE for the 2024 Family Handbook. Everything you need to know about forms, transportation, mail during the summer, health and wellness and more are in the handbook. Please be sure to review as there are changes from last summer.
Click HERE to log into your CampInTouch account to complete your 2024 forms. Health forms are due April 15th and all other forms are due May 15th.

Upcoming Camp Meet-ups
We’re so excited to bring back our first off-season camp meet-ups since 2019! Craving a game of Rocks? Missing your camp buddies? Join us in NYC or Boston for an afternoon of games, snacks and lots of happy reunions. Prospective families are also welcome, so please bring your friends to learn more about Camp Chewonki.
The first Camp Chewonki Meet-up will be held from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 at the Nat Holman Gymnasium in The City College of New York located at 160 Convent Avenue, New York, NY.
The second Camp Chewonki Meet-up will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, February 10th at the Cambridge Community Center located at 5 Callender Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
If you have a friend or a family member who you think might be interested in learning more about Camp Chewonki, feel free to invite them along!
We ask that all those planning to attend the NYC Camp Meet-up RSVP by January 19th and that all those planning to attend the Boston Camp Meet-up RSVP by January 26th.
Loon Trip Highlights
For Summer 2024, Leadership Expeditions has made exciting changes to our Loon trips. Loon trips are for participants finishing 8th or 9th grades are now two weeks each. Learn more about the different Loon offerings below:
Maine Appalachian Trail Backpacking Trip
Hike one of the most beautiful (and challenging) stretches of the Appalachian Trail!
Start in the famous 100 Mile Wilderness and end hiking Maine’s tallest mountain, Mount Katahdin (Wabanaki for “the greatest mountain”)
Hike 5-12 miles per day while learning about Maine ecology, seeing wildlife and maybe picking fresh wild berries to enjoy
Maine Northwoods Canoe Trip
Canoe the historic Allagash Wilderness Waterway up towards the Canadian border!
- Highlights include paddling Chase Rapids, incredible campsites, exploring the old tramway, and sunsets on the many lakes of the waterway.
- Build on the canoeing skills gained as a Chewonki camper- learn basics of reading moving water and strategies for crossing windy lakes.
Maine Coast Kayaking Trip
Kayak the coast of Maine starting at Chewonki Neck and ending at breathtaking islands of Stonington!
- Learn expeditionary sea kayaking skills, including paddling strokes, wet exits, rescue, group travel, and weather reading.
- Camp on the spruce-covered islands of Penobscot Bay and see seabirds, seals and, perhaps, whales.
