Alex Valdez brings a wealth of experience in education and summer camp operations to his role as the Camp Administrator at Camp Chewonki. Originally from Southern California, Alex discovered his passion for outdoor education and the Maine wilderness during his first visit to the state in 2016.

With a background in boarding school education and residential life direction, Alex has honed his skills in creating safe, inclusive, and enriching environments for campers and staff alike. His love for the outdoors and dedication to experiential learning make him a natural fit for Camp Chewonki’s mission of fostering personal growth and environmental stewardship.

Having worked extensively in summer camp operations, Alex understands the intricacies of running a successful and impactful camp program. He brings innovative ideas and a commitment to excellence to his role, ensuring that every camper has a memorable and transformative experience at Camp Chewonki.

In his free time, Alex can be found outside enjoying all things nature, or hopping in the car for a road trip. He has driven to all 48 of the contiguous U.S. states and is eager to get to Alaska and Hawaii. Any chance Alex has to travel somewhere new in the world, count him in! Alex is very excited to join the Camp Chewonki team and looks forward to a great summer season.
