Griffin is originally from southeastern Pennsylvania, where he grew up involved in local 4-H clubs and camps. Despite feeling homesick for the first few nights of sleep-away camp, he quickly fell in love with camp and hasn’t missed a summer since!

Following his years in Pennsylvania 4-H, he began spending his summers working at Kingsley Pines Camp in Raymond, Maine. Over his ten summers there he worked in a number of roles, most recently Assistant Program Director and Operations Manager. During that time Griffin spent twelve seasons traveling New England as an outdoor educator, EMT, and Assistant Program Coordinator with Nature’s Classroom.

He’s also worked at CIEE as an International Staffing Consultant for Summer Camps, helping camps navigate the J-1 visa process and hire counselors from around the globe. He believes every kid should have the opportunity to unplug and get outside to learn and play in nature. He loves camp and outdoor ed for the community and environment it provides; affording children the opportunity to learn independence, discover new interests, and grow as individuals.

Griffin now lives in Portland, ME and loves to spend his free time sitting by a campfire, playing board games and exploring Maine with his dog, Minnie. He is so excited to join the team at Chewonki and to share his love of camp with the entire Chewonki community.
