Jen Adams grew up in southern Florida, running around the mangrove forests and boating through estuaries. She first came to Maine in the summer of 2013 to work as a trip leader for Camp Chewonki for Girls and fell in love with the North Woods and Chewonki’s unique approach to tripping with students. Over the next four years, Jen worked as an Outdoor Classroom instructor during the academic year and continued to lead extended trips during the summer, including the five-week-long George River Expedition in northern Quebec and Labrador and many all-girls Explorer trips.

Jen’s experience includes being a Registered Maine Guide, American Canoe Association Instructor, Wilderness First Responder, Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Leave No Trace Master Educator and Swiftwater Rescue trained.

Jen holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Florida Gulf Coast University and an A.A. in Outdoor Education and Leadership from Central Wyoming College.

Jen lives on Westport Island, Maine, where she enjoys canoeing with her dog Pepper, exploring the salt marsh, and biking to work at nearby Chewonki.
