Beautiful lakes, free flowing whitewater and bountiful wildlife make for an incredible 2-week experience on waterways that have been used for millennia by the Indigenous Wabanaki and are now protected as the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Our Northwoods Canoe Expedition builds a foundation of skills for canoeing in the backcountry. Paddling in tandem canoes, participants will learn paddling technique, basics of reading moving water, strategies for crossing windy lakes, and will end their trip effortlessly maneuvering their boat. In addition to the paddling experience, the group will become proficient in outdoor living skills such as cooking over a fire, knots, wood processing and more!

It’s hard to pack all the excitement of a Chewonki experience into a short webpage, so we encourage you to reach out to our team for a phone call, or to schedule a tour in the off season.
We hope to see you at camp next summer!
