For Rising 9th and 10th graders

Explore wild Vermont on the original long-distance trail  

Challenge yourself on the Long Trail! Our 72-mile trek runs the length of the state of Vermont, from the southern end to the U.S.-Canada border. As you traverse peaks large and small, you’ll step up your expeditionary skills, learn more about leadership, and discover the unique ecology along this rugged Green Mountain spine. 

Ideal for campers who have completed our Maine Appalachian Trail Backpack trip or have similar backpacking expedition experience.

2027 Dates and Rates:

Length: 2 Weeks
Dates: July 1427; August 114
Eligible grades: Rising 9th and 10th graders
Group size: 5 — 8 plus 2 trip leaders
Starting location: Wiscasset, Maine (or Underhill State Park, Vermont)
Cost: To be announced

Itinerary: Depart from Underhill State Park in Underhill, Vermont. Finish at Journey’s End Wilderness Preserve in Jay, Vermont.
